Fouls Are Currency
In 3v3, fouls pile up fast and team fouls put the other side at the line quickly. Treat your fouls like money: spend them on things that matter, never on things that don't. Reaching at a dribbler thirty feet from the basket is a wasted foul. Bumping a shooter who has already gotten past you is a wasted foul — the layup was probably going in anyway, and now it's a chance at more. Play defense with your feet and your chest, keep your hands out of trouble, and save your fouls for stopping easy baskets late.
READ THIS
Know the team foul count at all times — check it after every whistle, and notice when either team is one foul from the penalty.
DO THIS
Defend with feet and chest, keep your hands vertical near the penalty, and once the opponent is in it, attack the rim hunting contact.

Your 3x3 team is on six team fouls; the next one sends them to the free-throw line for two shots. The player you are guarding drives hard and leans in, clearly hunting contact on their way to the rim.
