FIG. 24ONE SIDE OVERLOAD4V4
Putting three of your four players on one side of the court sounds like bad spacing — but done on purpose, it's a weapon. The overload forces the defense to make a choice: match your numbers on the strong side and leave one defender alone in acres of space, or stay balanced and be outnumbered where the ball is. Move the ball quickly around the loaded side until someone is open, and if the defense shifts everyone over, swing it to the lone teammate on the empty side for the easiest catch of the game.

READ THIS

Watch the lone weak-side defender — when they cheat toward the loaded side to help, the skip-pass window across the court opens.

DO THIS

Work the loaded side with quick passes, and the moment the weak defender splits two players, throw the skip for the long-closeout attack.

COACHING LINEAGE

Pat Riley

Transition aggression — push before the defense sets. The best offense happens in the first six seconds.

Gregg Popovich

Ball movement is a weapon — the extra pass is always right. Good shot to great shot, every possession.

IN THE SITUATION ROTATION

Your 4v4 team overloads the right side: you on the wing, one teammate in the corner, one at the block. The defense shifts with the load, and the lone defender on the left is standing in the lane, far from your fourth teammate.
