Floppy: One Shooter, Two Exits

FIG. 54FLOPPY ACTION5V5
Floppy is a set built to free a shooter. The shooter starts under the basket, with a screen waiting on each side — a single screen on one wing, a double stack on the other. The shooter chooses an exit, sprints off the screens, and catches on the move for a shot. The beauty is the choice: the defender chasing them can't know which side the shooter will take, and guessing wrong means arriving a full step late. If you're the shooter, read your chaser and pick the exit they can't cover.

READ THIS

Feel the chaser's position as you sit under the rim — trailing your hip toward one exit, or cheating over the top toward the other.

DO THIS

Walk your chaser into the screens, then sprint out the exit they can't cover — curl if trailed, fade if they cheat over — catching on your inside foot.

COACHING LINEAGE

Phil Jackson

The triangle decision framework applies to any offense — proper spacing turns every defensive choice into a wrong answer.

Steve Kerr

Off-ball movement wins: cut, relocate, space. The defense can only watch one thing.
