The Empty-Corner Drive
The strong-side corner is vacant — so the baseline lane has no help waiting in it.
THE TRIGGER — ONE LOOK
One glance at the ball-side corner: nobody standing there. No corner shooter means no corner defender — the baseline is a hallway with the lights off.
YOUR JOB, BY WHERE YOU'RE STANDING
Ballhandler
Attack the baseline side, now — before the defense reshuffles the corner.
With no corner shooter, there's no corner defender. The only help is the weakside low man, and he has the whole paint to cross.
Dunker spot
Hold your spot. Don't drift toward the drive — stay planted where the help came from.
The help defender guarding you has to leave to stop the drive. If you stand still, the drop-off pass arrives where he used to be.
Weakside wing
Drift down to the corner while your defender ball-watches.
Your man is already leaning toward the drive. Sliding to the corner stretches his recovery and puts you in the driver's natural kickout line.
THE NEXT BEAT
The moment the drive beats the on-ball defender, the weakside low man has to sprint across to meet it. That rotation leaves his man open — the drop-off and the weakside kickout appear one beat after the drive starts.
